Admissions & Settling in

Admissions

Our setting is inclusive and accessible, welcoming children and families from all sections of the local community. Admission to our setting is provided through fair, transparent, and clearly communicated procedures.

  • We are able to accommodate children within our registered numbers.

  • Our setting and our practices promote positive regard for and understanding of diversity, including differences in gender, family structure, class, background, religion, ethnicity, and English language proficiency.

  • Where possible, we support children and/or parents with disabilities to actively participate in our activities, providing the appropriate care.

Settling In

We use various methods to communicate important information to parents when their child starts attending our setting. By fostering open communication between Green Acres and parents/carers, using all about-me forms, and a shared approach, we can work out the best way of settling in your child.

  • The child's designated key person welcomes the child and one parent during the first session and the settling-in process and completes the necessary paperwork.

  • The child is then invited to attend a short session, lasting a maximum of 2 hours, with parents available on standby. These settling-in sessions are free of charge and typically span one to two weeks.

  • We welcome parents/carers to stay with their child during initial visits to cultivate their comfort and ease about leaving them.

  • Within the first four to six weeks, we collaborate with the child's parents to create their child's record of achievement.

  • If appropriate, we can offer flexible admission procedures to meet the needs of individual families and children.

  • We encourage parents/carers to gradually separate from their child, where appropriate, for short periods, progressively increasing the duration to help the child become accustomed to being left with our team.

  • We acknowledge and respect the circumstances of all families, including those with limited availability to stay for extended periods at the setting, and we provide reassurance regarding their child's settling-in progress.
