Staff ratio Policy

At our setting, we prioritise the well-being and development of children by adhering to the Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. We maintain appropriate staffing ratios to ensure that each child receives adequate individual attention and to deliver high-quality care and education. Our staff members possess the necessary qualifications, and we conduct enhanced criminal records and barred list checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service as mandated by law.

The minimum staffing ratios we adhere to are as follows:

  • 1:3 for children under 2 years old.

  • 1:5 for children aged 2 years.

  • 1:8 for children aged 3 years and above. However, when led by our preschool teacher, the ratio increases to 1:13. This adjustment allows us to provide enhanced supervision and instruction, ensuring a rich learning experience for our preschool-aged children.

Our management team consists of qualified individuals ranging from Level 3 to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status.)

To ensure smooth operations and sufficient coverage, the manager, staff manager, and account manager are supernumerary, meaning they can step in to provide additional support and cover when needed.

In addition, we conduct half-termly staff meetings and planning sessions. These gatherings allow us to engage in curriculum planning and discuss the progress of the children under our care. By regularly assessing and reviewing our practices, we continuously strive to provide the best learning experiences for each child.
